ToneTag and IndianOil launch in-car fuel payment solution

ToneTag has launched DrivePay, an in-car fuel payment solution developed in collaboration with IndianOil and TATA. CARS. Unveiled at the Global Fintech Fest 2026, the technology allows drivers to complete fuel transactions directly through their vehicle’s dashboard interface.

The system utilizes an IoT-enabled implementation of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) UPI Circle framework. This integration enables a contactless payment experience that does not require a separate mobile application, physical bank card, or smartphone at the time of transaction.

DrivePay also integrates with IndianOil’s XTRAREWARDS loyalty programme, allowing eligible customers to earn reward points without needing to share their mobile numbers during the process. Initial deployment is currently underway at select IndianOil retail outlets, with a broader commercial rollout expected in the coming months.
