Tongi motorcycle incident: Woman clarifies she was intoxicated

A woman who was seen unconscious on a motorcycle between Abdullahpur and Tongi on the Dhaka-Tongi highway has clarified her situation to the police. The incident, which went viral on social media after being captured by a witness, initially sparked concerns that the woman might be deceased.

Following questioning by the Tongi West Police, the woman stated that she had consumed alcohol due to mental stress caused by family issues. She claimed that the two men on the motorcycle were relatives she recognized as uncles, who arrived to assist her after she became unconscious. She further denied rumors regarding multiple marriages, attributing such claims to her former husband, Shahriar, as a means of harassment.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Shafiqul Islam confirmed that the woman has been released into the custody of her sister. Authorities are currently working to identify and question the two motorcyclists involved in the incident.
