Tonči Glavinić named new Chief State Inspector of Croatia

Tonči Glavinić, the current State Secretary in the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, has been selected to become the new Chief State Inspector of Croatia. Prime Minister Andrej Plenković confirmed the nomination, noting Glavinić’s experience as a civil engineer and his previous work within the Inspectorate and in post-earthquake reconstruction efforts.

Glavinić succeeds Andrija Mikulić, who was dismissed in November 2025 following his arrest in an anti-corruption operation. Mikulić is suspected of accepting bribes related to the illegal disposal of hazardous waste. The appointment of Glavinić aims to provide stable leadership to the State Inspectorate following the recent period of instability and public protests regarding environmental issues.
