Toni Parker apologizes for profanity during EuroLeague broadcast
Toni Parker, the coach and owner of the French basketball club ASVEL, has issued a public apology following an outburst during a EuroLeague match against Paris. Parker used profanity while addressing his players during a timeout, unaware that his words were being captured by a live EuroLeague microphone and broadcast on television.
Parker explained that his reaction was a result of intense pressure and frustration regarding his team's performance, specifically citing defensive issues and turnovers. He stated, “I was just putting pressure on them. They really frustrated me. Also, EuroLeague put a microphone on me. So I apologize for all the swearing. It just came out of me.”
Despite the heated exchange, ASVEL went on to secure a 98-96 victory in the French derby. Parker noted that while the win was positive, the team must improve their defensive play and adherence to the coaching staff's game plan to remain competitive.
