Tonto Dikeh discusses past addiction and urges drug abuse awareness

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has shared personal reflections on her past struggle with drug addiction to raise awareness and discourage substance abuse among Nigerian youth.

In a social media post, Dikeh described her addiction as a symptom of underlying emotional pain rather than a defining identity. She explained that she used drugs as an escape from unnamed suffering, noting, “Drugs weren’t the problem, they were the symptom. Addiction wasn’t my identity, it was my escape from pain I didn’t know how to name.”

Addressing the stigma surrounding addiction, the actress urged the public to show compassion toward those struggling. She encouraged individuals to seek help and called on others to pray for those trapped in addiction, stating that no person is “beyond redemption.” Dikeh presented her own recovery as evidence that healing and restoration are possible.
