Tony Dungy addresses NBC departure and religious views

Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Dungy has addressed his departure from NBC Sports after 17 years with the network. NBC previously announced that Dungy would not return to ‘Football Night in America’ for the 2026 NFL season as part of a plan to refresh the program with younger voices.

In an interview on ‘The Sage Steele Show’, Dungy discussed whether his outspoken Christian faith and pro-life views influenced the decision. While he noted that television networks often seek to appeal to broad audiences by being careful with certain subjects, he did not explicitly state that his faith was the direct cause of his exit. Dungy emphasized that he will continue to speak about his beliefs respectfully and will not hide his Christian identity.
