Tony Elumelu advocates for Africa-led economic growth and investment
Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings, is advocating for a shift in Africa’s development model toward trade, investment, and private sector-led growth rather than a reliance on foreign aid. Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Elumelu urged international investors to view Africa as a commercial destination with diverse opportunities across its 54 nations, rather than a single high-risk environment.
In Paris, Elumelu also participated in the Africa France Impact Coalition Dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. The event focused on strengthening economic ties between France and Africa through business partnerships and job creation. As leader of the Africa France Impact Coalition, Elumelu discussed expanding collaboration and supporting young entrepreneurs to deepen regional economic connections.
