Tony Iommi declined offer for final Black Sabbath album

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has revealed that he declined an offer from producer Andrew Watt to record a final album with the band’s original lineup.

In an interview with Classic Rock magazine, Iommi stated that while Watt—who has produced recent solo albums for Ozzy Osbourne—was eager to collaborate, he felt the producer was “a bit too excited” and lacked an understanding of the dynamics involved in working with the original Sabbath members, specifically drummer Bill Ward.

Iommi expressed that he was not interested in creating new material simply for the sake of it, noting that he felt satisfied with the band’s 2013 album, ‘13’, as their final recorded statement.

While Ozzy Osbourne previously suggested the possibility of one more album following ‘13’, the band ultimately opted against it. The group’s final performances took place during a 2025 reunion event in Birmingham.
