Tony Iommi releases new single ‘Stormwatcher’ ahead of solo album
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has released ‘Stormwatcher’, the second single from his upcoming solo album, From The Dark. The track features vocals by Jørn Lande, who also co-wrote the lyrics. The song, which carries a maritime theme about a ship in a storm, is accompanied by an animated music video.
Produced alongside longtime collaborator Mike Exeter, the album features a backing band including bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil. Iommi noted that the project evolved from an intended instrumental album into a vocal-led record due to his appreciation for Lande’s singing.
From The Dark is scheduled for release on October 23 via BMG. The album marks Iommi’s first solo studio effort in 21 years. Additionally, Iommi was recently awarded an MBE at Windsor Castle in recognition of his services to the arts and charity.
