Tony Iommi reveals declined Black Sabbath reunion album

Tony Iommi has revealed that he declined an opportunity to record a final studio album with the original Black Sabbath lineup. According to an interview in Classic Rock, producer Andrew Watt approached Iommi in the early 2020s regarding a reunion album, but Iommi felt that after their 13th album, adding another release was not the right move. He also noted that Watt was unfamiliar with the group's original working dynamics, specifically regarding drummer Bill Ward.

In a separate development regarding the band's legacy, plans for a “Back To The Beginning” event are set for July 5, 2025, at Villa Park in Birmingham. The event is designed to celebrate the band's influence, featuring groups inspired by Sabbath followed by the original members. However, Iommi has expressed concerns regarding the physical health of Ozzy Osbourne, suggesting that a full performance might be too taxing. Iommi even considered an alternative where the band would simply appear at the end of the night to offer thanks rather than performing a full set.
