Tony Khan outlines AEW wrestler returns and Hall of Fame plans ahead of Redemption PPV

AEW President Tony Khan used a July 23, 2026 media call to promote the upcoming Redemption pay‑per‑view in Montreal and to provide roster updates. He confirmed that Swerve Strickland, who has been absent since his loss at the Forbidden Door Owen Hart Cup final, will appear at San Diego Comic‑Con and is expected to return to television soon. Khan also said Hangman Adam Page, who vowed not to chase the AEW World Championship after his loss at Revolution, will be back shortly to pursue other titles.

Khan addressed several other roster matters: Anna Jay is injured and undergoing an MRI; Tay Melo has requested release and will likely be granted it; and other free agents remain under observation. He discussed the competition with WWE and explained the earlier start time for Redemption as an experiment.

The CEO revisited the possibility of reviving the Ring of Honor Hall of Fame and hinted at a future AEW Hall of Fame, citing past inductees such as Bryan Danielson, CM Punk and the Briscoe brothers, and mentioning potential future honorees like Athena, Sting and the late Brodie Lee. No concrete timeline was announced.
