WWE creative plans shift following successful Mexico City Raw episode
WWE’s recent Monday Night Raw episode in Mexico City, headlined by a World Heavyweight Championship match between Roman Reigns and Penta, has significantly impacted the company’s creative direction and streaming strategy. The event drew approximately three million global viewers on Netflix, marking one of the show’s strongest performances since WrestleMania, even while competing against NFL Monday Night Football.
Following this success, Netflix has reportedly expressed enthusiasm for the high viewership and has requested that WWE feature more marquee matches and major stars on Raw more frequently. Internally, the positive reception has shifted WWE’s creative plans. While the Reigns vs. Penta match was initially intended to be a one-time occurrence, officials are now considering a rematch.
Penta has emerged as a heavy favorite to win the upcoming Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match after securing his spot by defeating Dominik Mysterio and Dragon Lee. A victory in that match could facilitate a return to the world title picture against Reigns. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns has discussed his future in the industry, noting that he remains interested in long-term storytelling and potential future runs within the company.
