Tony Livesey departs BBC Radio 5 Live amid investigation into past ties with David Sullivan

Tony Livesey, the 62‑year‑old presenter of BBC Radio 5 Live's night programme, left the corporation after a 16‑year tenure. His departure was communicated to staff on 3 August 2026.

The exit follows a temporary suspension of his show while the BBC examined concerns raised by a joint Panorama and The Times investigation into Livesey's former role as editor of the Daily Sport and Sunday Sport newspapers, publications linked to businessman David Sullivan. The probe, which focused on allegations of sexual exploitation against Sullivan, also scrutinised Livesey’s involvement, including a claim that he introduced a woman to Sullivan. Livesey has denied the accusations. He had worked for roughly 18 years at the Sport titles before joining the BBC in 2006 and subsequently decided to quit permanently.
