Tony Menzel joins Rot‑Weiss Essen on season‑long loan

Twenty‑one‑year‑old midfielder Tony Menzel has been loaned from 2. Bundesliga side Dynamo Dresden to Rot‑Weiss Essen for the 2026‑27 season and will wear the number 8 shirt. In the 2025‑26 campaign he made 13 appearances for Dresden in the second division and previously featured in 30 third‑division matches, scoring five goals and providing four assists.

RWE sporting director Marcus Steegmann said Menzel’s high intensity, dynamism and box‑to‑box versatility fit the club’s playing style. Menzel expressed enthusiasm about joining the traditional club, recalling his professional debut at the Hafenstraße stadium in 2023 and looking forward to contributing both personally and on the pitch.
