Tony Mordini to resign as Melbourne High School principal
Tony Mordini, the principal of Melbourne High School, has announced his resignation effective this September. He will transition to a new role as a principal adviser for the Department of Education, where he intends to contribute to public education at a system-wide level.
Mordini has led the academically selective state school since January 2021. His new position will utilize his background in school leadership, boys’ education, mental health research, and judicial service.
The resignation comes as the school manages safety concerns regarding its historic Gothic-style main building. The Victorian State Building Authority is currently conducting electrical and fire-system remediation works, which may require some classes to be held in temporary demountable buildings.
