Tony Parker's Vercors real estate project faces uncertainty after rejection

A major real estate project in the Vercors region of France, associated with former basketball player Tony Parker, remains in uncertainty following a government rejection.

In September 2025, the coordinating prefect of the Alps massif rejected the Ananda Resort project in Villard-de-Lans. The plan, which would have been built on a parking area owned by Parker’s company, SEVLC, proposed 99 tourist suites for up to 700 people, along with commercial and sports facilities. The prefect deemed the scale of the development “manifestly excessive” regarding natural resource balance and current supply.

One year later, while Parker’s company has secured a lease extension for the ski area, the large-scale residential component has stalled. However, the mayor of Villard-de-Lans, Arnaud Mathieu, suggested in early 2026 that a revised, smaller project of approximately 500 beds funded by private investors could potentially be pursued.
