Tony Petruzzi, president of Istituto Capri nel Mondo, dies at 87

Antonio Lorusso Petruzzi, known as Tony Petruzzi, has passed away in Naples at the age of 87. As the president of the Istituto Capri nel Mondo, Petruzzi was a prominent figure in the Campania hospitality sector and a key cultural promoter.

Starting in 1995, Petruzzi worked alongside director Lina Wertmüller and Pascal Vicedomini to support the growth of the Capri, Hollywood – The International Film Festival. For thirty years, he helped establish a cultural link between Italy and Hollywood through his collaboration with the administrations of Capri and Anacapri.

His contributions included supporting Lina Wertmüller during her 2019 Academy Award for lifetime achievement and facilitating the assignment of four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to Italian cultural icons: Bernardo Bertolucci, Andrea Bocelli, Ennio Morricone, and Lina Wertmüller. His funeral service was scheduled for Monday, August 17, at the Church of the Ascension in Naples.
