Tony Pitony Declines Sanremo Contest under Stefano De Martino

Sicilian singer Tony Pitony, known for an electronic‑demensional style, was repeatedly approached by Sanremo artistic director Stefano De Martino and director Fabrizio Ferraguzzo to compete in the festival, possibly in the 2026‑27 edition. According to journalist Gabriele Parpiglia, “Sembrava tutto fatto”, but Pitony refused, saying he will concentrate on the secret film project “Filmony – Decreto Scorrettezza”. The refusal leaves open the chance of a different, non‑competitive role in the festival.

Pitony’s 2024 performance with Ditonellapiaga sparked mixed reactions, with half the audience praising the fresh, ironic approach and the other half questioning its fit for the classic Ariston stage. His decision not to return as a contestant adds another twist to the ongoing debate about the festival’s direction under De Martino.
