Tony Reno, former Yale football head coach, dies at 52

Former Yale football head coach Tony Reno has died at the age of 52. Reno, who led the Bulldogs for 14 seasons starting in 2012, amassed an 83-49 career record and secured five Ivy League championships.

He resigned from his position in February due to health issues, with reports indicating a diagnosis of a neurodegenerative disease. During his tenure, he was named the 2022 Ivy League Coach of the Year and led the program to its first FCS playoff berth last fall.

Following the announcement of his passing, Yale quarterback Dante Reno, the coach’s son, played in a game against Merrimack on Saturday. Dante Reno threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns, dedicating the team’s 41-24 comeback victory to his late father.
