Tony Romo and CBS Sports part ways after nine seasons

CBS Sports and NFL analyst Tony Romo have mutually agreed to part ways, ending a nine-season partnership. The departure follows Romo being placed on indefinite leave after an arrest in Wisconsin on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Romo released a statement expressing pride in his broadcasting career and his transition from professional football to television analysis. He indicated plans to take a break from work to focus on his health and spend time with his family, though he did not announce any future broadcasting commitments.

Following Romo's departure, speculation has emerged regarding his successor. J.J. Watt, who previously served as a temporary replacement during Romo's leave, is being considered for the lead analyst role. Watt has already been integrated into the network's secondary broadcast team.
