Top 14 rugby players receive four-week suspensions

Several players in the French Top 14 rugby league have received multi-week suspensions following disciplinary infractions.

Rugby Club Toulon manager Pierre Mignoni addressed the four-match suspension of fly-half Tomas Albornoz. Albornoz was sanctioned following an incident on July 18 during an international match between Argentina and England, where his behavior toward referee Angus Gardner was deemed intimidating. Mignoni noted that while Albornoz made a mistake, the player has apologized and the incident does not reflect his usual reserved character.

Separately, Clermont third-liner Marcos Kremer has been handed a four-week suspension by the LNR disciplinary commission. Kremer was found guilty of dangerous play following a shoulder-to-head contact with Robert Du Preez during a match against Bayonne. Although the initial severity of the foul suggested a six-week ban, and his prior disciplinary record could have extended it to seven weeks, the commission reduced the sentence to four weeks in recognition of his remorse and cooperation during the hearing.
