Toplofikacia Sliven invests €17 million in green energy capacity

Toplofikacia Sliven-inzh. Angel Angelov has received authorization to utilize new cogeneration capacities following a three-year construction period. The €17 million investment, funded entirely by the company's own resources, adds 17 megawatts of capacity, increasing the plant's total output from 30 megawatts to 47 megawatts.

According to Executive Director Pavlin Kostov, the new gas-based cogeneration units are a significant step toward a green transition. The company intends to use these units during the non-heating season (May through September) to either completely shut down or significantly limit the use of coal-fired capacities. This shift is expected to reduce harmful emissions and fine particulate matter.
