Tor co-owners defend vehicle restrictions on Cabús forest track

Co-owners of Tor have defended their decision to restrict vehicle traffic on the forest track connecting the village to Alins and the border with Andorra at Port de Cabús. The community claims the agreement to limit access to residents and authorized vehicles was passed by a “vast majority” during a meeting in March, with ten co-owners voting in favor.

The decision follows legal advice regarding the risks associated with the unpaved mountain track, which has seen increased traffic from motor vehicles and bicycles due to its growing popularity. The community cited concerns over potential legal liability following a fatal accident involving a foreign cyclist in the area a few years ago. Although the accident occurred outside Tor property, the Consorci Forestal de Catalunya had previously recommended installing signs to restrict traffic.

Recent attempts to install official signage at the Alins and Port de Cabús access points were met with resistance; the signs were removed the same day they were placed. Co-owners also reported receiving death threats after the signage was installed.
