Tora ni Tsubasa film adaptation set for January 2027 release

The theatrical film adaptation of the NHK morning drama ‘Tora ni Tsubasa’ is scheduled for release on January 15, 2027. The film features a reunion of the original cast, including lead actress Sari Ito, and marks the first time in the 50-year history of NHK morning dramas that the main cast will continue their roles for a film version.

Directed by Yoshiro Nagakawa and written by Erika Yoshida, the movie will present a completely original story. It aims to explore new episodes from the Meiritsu University Women’s Club era and follow the protagonist, Torako, through her ‘final case’ that connects to the modern era.

Masaki Okada will reprise his role as Koichi Hoshi, Torako’s husband, alongside returning cast members such as Tomomi Morita and Shiori Doi. New cast members joining the production include Sara Minami, Kayo Noro, Masahiro Takashima, Yuki Uchida, and Koshiro Matsumoto.
