Torgau implements specialized pigeon management model
In Torgau, Germany, a specialized pigeon management concept is being utilized to balance the presence of urban pigeons with the need to minimize cleanliness issues and public complaints. Bernd Noack, the only pigeon commissioner in North Saxony, oversees the care and population control of the birds.
The program provides pigeons with fixed quarters under city rooftops, which helps keep the birds in specific locations and prevents droppings from accumulating on various city surfaces. To manage the population, Noack replaces fresh eggs with artificial ones in the pigeon lofts to limit reproduction.
