Tori and Posti restrictions cause confusion for Finnish sellers
Discrepancies between the prohibited item lists of the Finnish online marketplace Tori and the postal service Posti are causing surprises for second-hand sellers. While many items are permitted for sale on Tori, they may be restricted for shipment via Posti due to safety regulations.
For example, perfume is a popular item on Tori with over 5,200 listings, yet it cannot be sent through Posti by private individuals. Other items permitted for sale on Tori but restricted by Posti include nail polish and charcoal. Conversely, Tori prohibits the sale of certain insect repellents, round bird cages, and predictions.
Posti states that these restrictions are in place to ensure the safety of both employees and recipients. While business customers can arrange special transport for hazardous goods, these arrangements do not apply to private individuals. Sellers are responsible for ensuring their items are eligible for transport; failure to do so may result in lost postage, return fees, or the destruction of the goods.
