Tori Spelling criticizes director over difficult ‘Evil Alien Conquerors’ experience

Actress Tori Spelling has identified the 2003 sci-fi comedy ‘Evil Alien Conquerors’ as the lowest point of her film career. Speaking on Stephen Baldwin’s ‘One Bad Movie’ podcast, Spelling described a distressing experience working under director Chris Matheson.

Spelling stated that Matheson frequently singled her out publicly after takes, often asking her to do ‘a little bit less’ with her performance. She noted that while she understood such notes in dramatic roles, they felt inappropriate for a comedy. The actress claimed the director’s constant public criticism caused her significant anxiety, leaving her ‘shuddering’ and in an emotional ‘puddle’ each day.

Seeking to distance herself from her persona as the daughter of producer Aaron Spelling, the actress had initially been excited about the comedic role. However, the experience became so difficult that she eventually requested her manager have her removed from the film’s credits entirely.
