Torino Accelerates Coach Hunt as Aquilani Move to Sassolo Delays Decision

Italian club Torino has reportedly decided it will no longer wait for Alberto Aquilani to become its head coach. After weeks of talks and a summit in Milan with club president Urbano Cairo and director Davide Vagnati, the board is said to be ready for a definitive answer, fearing further delays could disrupt the club’s preparations for the upcoming season.

With Sassolo also courting Aquilani, Torino is now looking at former Ternana manager Ignazio Abate as its main alternative. The coaching search comes alongside other club matters, including Roma’s interest in forward Nikola Vlasic—whose contract Torino wishes to retain—and speculation about former striker Gilardino as a possible candidate.

The club aims to settle the appointment quickly to plan the transfer market, the retirement of veteran Pinzolo, and the start of the new campaign with a permanent manager in place.
