Italy hosts major gastronomic and sporting events in 2026
Italy is hosting several major culinary and gastronomic events throughout late 2026. In Turin, the Terra Madre Salone del Gusto celebrated the 40th anniversary of Slow Food and the 30th anniversary of the Salone del Gusto. The event, themed ‘Biodiversity – Be Diversity’, hosted over 1,500 participants from 120 countries and served as a tribute to the late founder Carlo Petrini.
Other notable food-related gatherings include the DeGusto trade fair in Catanzaro, which expects record numbers with 140 exhibitors and international buyers, and the Ein Prosit festival in Udine, featuring over 90 world-class chefs. Additionally, the Buonissima event will return to Turin in October, featuring high-end culinary experiences at the Allianz Stadium.
In the sporting sector, Turin is preparing to host the European trotting championships, including the Derby Day and UET Finals at the Vinovo Hippodrome, with the city's Mole Antonelliana illuminated in green to mark the occasion.
