Torino police launch mobile unit to combat fraud
The Torino Local Police have launched a mobile anti-fraud initiative titled ‘La truffa si camuffa!’ (The scam is disguised!) to protect vulnerable citizens, particularly the elderly. Using a multifunctional mobile office funded by ministerial resources, officers from the Proximity Department are visiting high-traffic areas in the city center, including Piazza Castello, Via Roma, Piazza San Carlo, and Piazza Carignano.
The campaign aims to provide an accessible listening point where citizens can receive practical advice on recognizing both traditional and digital scams. Security Councilor Marco Porcedda described fraud against the defenseless as an ‘odious phenomenon’ and encouraged the public to report suspicious behavior and avoid acting impulsively under pressure.
