Torino rejects River Plate bid, retains striker Giovanni Simeone

Torino FC confirmed that it will not sell Argentine striker Giovanni Simeone, despite the player's expressed desire to return to River Plate. The club reiterated its stance after a meeting between Torino executives, including president Urbano Cairo and sporting director Gianluca Petrachi, and Simeone's representatives. Torino considers Simeone a key figure in its technical project and has a contract with the player running until June 2028.

The Argentine club River Plate has indicated willingness to improve its offer, but Torino remains firm, describing Simeone as a top‑class element for the team's present and future. The meeting also outlined plans for the upcoming season under new coach Ignazio Abate, with Simeone expected to lead the squad and mentor younger talents.
