Tornadoes confirmed in New York, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan

Severe weather has produced multiple confirmed tornadoes across New York and the Canadian Prairies.

In New York, the National Weather Service confirmed two tornadoes in Saratoga County during Thursday evening storms. An EF-1 tornado near Wilton produced peak winds of 110 mph and traveled 1.75 miles. A weaker EF-0 tornado also touched down near Ruggles Road, uprooting trees. No injuries or deaths were reported. These incidents bring the 2026 New York tornado total to 16.

In Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada confirmed tornado activity in Saskatchewan and Manitoba following Sunday storms. A tornado touched down near Maryfield, Saskatchewan, while investigations continue regarding reports in Kelso. In Manitoba, twisters were reported in Kola and Elkhorn. Manitoba has experienced higher than average activity this summer, with at least 11 confirmed tornadoes compared to the typical annual total of seven or eight.
