Two German companies have filed for insolvency, highlighting economic pressures in different sectors.
FreeVenture GmbH, the operator of the Munich-based camper rental platform Vanever, has filed for insolvency and ceased operations as of August 16. The company cited changes in booking behavior due to rising fuel prices and economic uncertainty. Customers with upcoming bookings will have them canceled, though those currently using rented vehicles may continue their trips. Torney Landfleischerei Pripsleben GmbH, a traditional meat processing company based in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, has filed for insolvency in self-administration. The company, which operates 13 branches in Kaufland and Netto markets, employs approximately 100 people. The filing is attributed to high energy costs, increased minimum wage expenses, and weakened consumer demand due to inflation. Under the self-administration process, the management remains in place to oversee restructuring efforts, and production and deliveries are expected to continue.
