Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles meet 25 years after Sept. 11 postponement
The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles face each other again, marking 25 years since their scheduled series was postponed following the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.
Former Blue Jays manager Buck Martinez recalled the uncertainty of that period, noting he was driving from New Jersey to Baltimore when he heard the news. He described how the coaching staff gathered in a hotel suite near the Baltimore World Trade Center to watch the events unfold. Due to the attacks and the subsequent suspension of air travel, the Blue Jays were forced to return to Canada by bus and did not resume play until September 18, 2001.
