Toronto Blue Jays bolster pitching rotation via trade deadline moves

The Toronto Blue Jays have significantly bolstered their pitching rotation following several key moves during the MLB trade deadline. A primary acquisition was right-hander José Soriano, whom the Blue Jays acquired from the Los Angeles Angels in a deal centered around a three-prospect package including shortstop Arjun Nimmala.

Following the Soriano acquisition, the Blue Jays reportedly considered further offers from the Minnesota Twins and Chicago Cubs. The Twins attempted to negotiate a package involving top prospect Kaelen Culpepper, but Toronto indicated they would only entertain further discussions if the deal included pitching prospect Riley Quick.

In addition to Soriano, the Blue Jays acquired left-hander Dasan Hill in a trade for Jeff Hoffman. Hill, currently playing in A+ ball, has been identified by prospect experts as a high-potential talent with the potential to eventually become a number one starter.
