Toronto Blue Jays make multiple roster moves ahead of Red Sox series
The Toronto Blue Jays have implemented several roster changes ahead of their series opener against the Boston Red Sox. The team selected right-handed pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson to the major-league roster and recalled infielder Charles McAdoo from Triple-A Buffalo.
To accommodate these additions, the Blue Jays optioned right-hander Lazaro Estrada and utility player Davis Schneider to Buffalo. Additionally, catcher Willie MacIver has been designated for assignment, and outfielder Rudy Martin Jr. was assigned to the Bisons after clearing waivers.
The moves come as Toronto attempts to improve its standing in the American League Wild Card race, currently trailing by 3.5 games. The team has won seven of its last 11 games. In the starting lineup for Monday, Kazuma Okamoto was removed due to a left knee contusion.
