Toronto Blue Jays promote prospect Brett Bateman to MLB

The Toronto Blue Jays have promoted outfielder Brett Bateman to the Major Leagues following his recent acquisition in a trade deadline deal involving Kevin Gausman. Bateman, a highly-rated prospect known for speed and defensive ability, made his MLB debut against the Philadelphia Phillies.

In his first game, Bateman batted ninth and recorded his first career hit and a run scored. For the following game in the series, the Blue Jays adjusted the lineup to move Bateman to the second batting position, placing him behind leadoff hitter Nathan Lukes and third batter Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Alongside Bateman, right-hander José Soriano also made his debut for the Blue Jays in the series against the Phillies. These roster moves come as the Blue Jays look to improve their standing in the American League East.
