Toronto Blue Jays show signs of recovery heading into September

The Toronto Blue Jays have shown signs of recovery following a difficult period characterized by a post-World Series hangover. Manager John Schneider described the recent season as “weird,” noting that players faced physical and mental exhaustion after a deep playoff run in the previous year. Schneider indicated that the team is moving past individual slumps and the pressure that had previously led to disjointed play.

Following a 17-11 performance in August, the team has moved back into contention for a wild card spot. While the offense has struggled throughout the 2026 campaign—ranking near the bottom of the league in runs scored and home runs—August saw a return to respectability. The team improved to 16th in runs scored for the month.

Key individual performances have contributed to this momentum. Catcher Alejandro Kirk emerged as a standout, hitting .341 with five home runs and 20 RBIs during the month. Other players, including George Springer, are also showing signs of progress as the team prepares for the final month of the season.
