Toronto cycling advocates hold rides to demand improved trail connectivity
Community advocacy groups in Toronto held joint cycling events to highlight the need for improved trail connectivity and the closure of gaps in the city's pedestrian and bike networks. The Loop Trail ride, hosted by Community Bikeways, aimed to promote the completion of ten specific gaps along the trail system.
Simultaneously, the Scarborough Junction Community organized the Link Ride to advocate for the development of the West Scarborough Rail Trail, which would connect Warden and Kennedy Stations. Organizers noted that negotiations are ongoing with the City of Toronto and the TTC regarding access to a former railway bridge crossing at Warden. The events drew dozens of participants and included local municipal candidates discussing the importance of safe cycling infrastructure.
