Toronto International Film Festival 2026 Announces Gala and Special Presentations Lineup

The 51st Toronto International Film Festival will run from September 10‑20, 2026 in downtown Toronto. The festival unveiled its first wave of films for the Gala and Special Presentations programs, featuring titles from nearly 30 countries and celebrated directors such as Danny Boyle, Pedro Almodóvar, Ryûsuke Hamaguchi and Mike Leigh.

Highlights include the biographical sports drama "I Play Rocky" about the making of the 1976 classic, Chris Rock’s written‑directed drama "Misty Green," and the closing night film "Villeneuve: The Rise of a Legend," a sports drama about Canadian racer Gilles Villeneuve. Other noted entries span a wide range of genres and origins, from "Bunker" (France, Spain) to "Prima Facie" (Australia, United Kingdom) and "Spirit Guardians: The Last Secret of the First Emperor" (Vietnam).
