Toronto Maple Leafs add Judd Brackett and Freddie Hamilton to front office

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced two senior hires on Monday. Assistant general manager Judd Brackett, former director of amateur scouting for the Minnesota Wild and longtime executive with the Vancouver Canucks, will oversee amateur and professional player evaluation. Former NHL forward Freddie Hamilton, an MBA graduate of Yale University with private‑equity experience, was appointed chief of staff for the hockey operations department.

The appointments are part of General Manager John Chayka’s broader front‑office overhaul, which also follows the dismissal of head coach Craig Berube. Chayka said Brackett’s scouting record and Hamilton’s business acumen will strengthen decision‑making as the club prepares for the upcoming NHL draft, where it holds the first overall pick after winning the lottery.
