Toronto Maple Leafs face roster setbacks with Max Domi out indefinitely

The Toronto Maple Leafs face several roster challenges as training camp approaches. Forward Max Domi is expected to be out indefinitely after failing his physical due to complications from an undisclosed off-season surgery. Domi’s absence will likely require the team to utilize long-term injured reserve (LTIR) to manage the salary cap, potentially providing room to sign depth players like Nick Blankenburg.

In other roster news, defenceman Chris Tanev has been cleared to participate in camp following an abdominal injury that limited his previous season. Conversely, young defenceman William Villeneuve faces a lengthy recovery period following knee surgery, described as an ACL “construction.” Additionally, Morgan Rielly is expected to be limited early in camp due to a viral issue.
