Toronto Maple Leafs players clear waivers for Marlies assignment

The Toronto Maple Leafs have finalized several roster moves as they approach their opening-night lineup. Eight players successfully cleared waivers on Thursday, allowing the organization to assign them to the Toronto Marlies.

Among those clearing waivers are Steven Lorentz, who carries a $1.35 million cap hit through the 2027-28 season, Brendan Brisson, Vinni Lettieri, Michael Pezzetta, Henrik Rybinski, Ryan Tverberg, Philippe Myers, and Marshall Rifai.

The clearance of these players provides the Maple Leafs with significant depth and flexibility to manage injuries and roster fluctuations throughout the season. The group assigned to the Marlies includes a mix of NHL experience and young talent, potentially strengthening the AHL affiliate following its recent Calder Cup championship.
