Toronto Maple Leafs recall goalie Akhtyamov to support Bobrovsky

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is working to overcome a slow start to the 2026-27 season. Following a 4-1 loss to the New York Islanders, Bobrovsky holds a 1-3-2 record with a .891 save percentage and a 3.29 goals-against average.

To manage the goaltending rotation, the Maple Leafs have recalled goaltender Artur Akhtyamov and forward Vinni Lettieri from the AHL Toronto Marlies. Akhtyamov is expected to serve as the second goalie for upcoming games against the San Jose Sharks and Columbus Blue Jackets. While the roster move has sparked trade speculation regarding Anthony Stolarz, reports suggest the recall is intended for load management to ensure the team has three goaltenders on the active roster.
