Toronto Maple Leafs recall Miles Wood from AHL

The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled forward Miles Wood from the AHL's Toronto Marlies. Wood, an 11-year NHL veteran, was previously acquired in a trade involving Kirill Marchenko and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The recall comes amid roster uncertainty, potentially driven by injuries such as defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who is expected to be sidelined following a fall during a game against the Vegas Golden Knights. Additionally, the team faces a gap in its lineup due to John Tavares taking paternity leave.

Wood's return provides the Maple Leafs with bottom-six depth, but it also serves as an opportunity for the player to demonstrate his value. A successful stint could either make Wood a viable long-term depth option for Toronto or increase his trade value to other NHL teams looking for veteran presence.
