Toronto Maple Leafs sign Latvian forward Teodors Bļugers and goalie Sergei Bobrovsky

Latvian forward Teodors Bļugers has agreed to a two‑year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, earning $2.5 million per season – the highest single‑season salary of his career. Bļugers previously played for the Vancouver Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Vegas Golden Knights, appearing in 453 NHL games with 58 goals and 111 assists.

The Leafs have also added two‑time Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky on a three‑year, $21 million deal. Bobrovsky, 37, spent the last seven seasons with the Florida Panthers, posting a 3.07 goals‑against average and a 87.7 % save percentage. He previously earned Vezina honors with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2013 and 2017. The signings bolster Toronto’s roster as it seeks to improve its playoff prospects.

Both players become the latest Latvian and Russian talent to join the historic franchise, which was founded in 1917 and has won the Stanley Cup 13 times.
