Toronto police dismantle online gun trafficking network

Toronto police have dismantled an alleged online firearms trafficking network through an undercover operation known as ‘Project Playfight’. The investigation, which began in February 2026, involved officers posing as online gun buyers to infiltrate the group.

Following search warrants executed on July 29 in Toronto and Markham, three suspects—Zhuohang Ma, 23, Jun Xiang Huang, 29, and Lie Le, 23—were arrested. The individuals face a total of 45 firearms-related offences. Authorities allege that one of the suspects was a registered firearm possessor who acted as a supplier to two other sellers.

During the raids, police seized 15 firearms, over 1,200 rounds of ammunition, body armour, Canadian currency, a 2.5 gram gold bar, and equipment used to convert firearms into fully automatic weapons. The investigation remains active.
