Toronto Police investigate antisemitic hate speech in North York

The Toronto Police Service hate crimes unit is investigating an incident involving alleged antisemitic hate speech in North York. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West, an area described by community groups as a central Jewish neighborhood.

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) reported that an individual was filmed making extreme accusations against Jews and Zionists, including claims of using ‘black magic’ and committing various violent acts. CIJA is seeking accountability alongside B'nai Brith Canada and the Canadian Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center.

Community organizations noted that this specific area has experienced recurring harassment and anti-Israel demonstrations over the last three years. Toronto police have requested that anyone with information or witnesses to the incident come forward to assist with the investigation.
