Toronto Police Issue Canada-Wide Warrant for Indian Psychic Fraudster Gangadhar Babu

Toronto Police Service has issued a Canada‑wide arrest warrant for 29‑year‑old Indian national Gangadhar Babu. Investigators say Babu posed as a psychic, fortune‑teller and spiritual healer under the name “Babu” and operated a business called “Indian Psychic and Spiritual Healer” from April 2024 to September 2025. Using elaborate rituals and threats of imminent death, he convinced a victim to hand over roughly USD 800,000 in exchange for “spiritual protection.”

Babu is charged with fraud over $5,000, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and laundering those proceeds. Police believe he has fled Canada and returned to India. An image and physical description have been released, and authorities are urging anyone who may have been targeted by the scam to contact them.
