Toronto police officer charged with firearm smuggling offences
A Toronto Police Service constable has been charged with multiple firearm-related offences following an investigation by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Nasser Gholami, a 47-year-old officer from Brampton, is alleged to have been the intended recipient of a parcel from the United States containing two firearm suppressors.
The parcel was intercepted by border services officers in Mississauga on July 23, 2026. A subsequent search warrant executed at Gholami’s residence on September 24, 2026, allegedly resulted in the seizure of three non-restricted firearms, one prohibited suppressor attached to a firearm, ammunition, and digital devices.
Gholami faces charges including smuggling prohibited devices, importing prohibited devices, and possession of a prohibited device. The Toronto Police Service confirmed that Gholami has been suspended with pay and is facing a further suspension without pay. Officials stated that the charges are unrelated to his professional duties. He is scheduled to appear in court in Brampton on November 5, 2026.
